AIG Insurance Company - American International Group
While Congress was ratifying the 18th amendment, prohibiting the sale of alcohol in the U.S., American International Group, Inc. was founded in China to be the first western insurance seller to the Chinese after enormous growth around the world, AIG’s US holdings were sold in 1967 and the focus of AIG changed to include more corporate coverage. AIG’s structure also changed, utilizing insurance brokers instead of insurance agents to sell its products. With insurance brokers, AIG can price insurance properly at all times with very little expense. Shortly thereafter, American International Group, Inc. went public in 1969, and is now a major American insurance corporation based in New York City.

AIG is the world’s leading insurance and financial services organization, providing extensive insurance services, including auto coverage, property-casualty, mortgage guaranty insurance, and life insurance, to both commercial and individual customers.
